First we will define Service Level Management (SLM), and explain it using a common-sense analogy. We will then provide a brief history lesson illustrating how the evolution of network management has taken us from simple device management in the 1970s to SLM in the late 1990s and into 2000. Finally, we will discuss some of the reasons why a business would be interested in SLM and discuss Glaxo Wellcome’s approach to SLM using SPECTRUM.
