In this paper we will consider the background to Royal & SunAlliance's interest in neural networks, and look at the history of our involvement with the technology. We will discuss what we have learned from this, and show how a modern data mining tool incorporating neural networks and other techniques can be used to provide useful marketing information not otherwise available.
