Project and resource management has always played a critical role in the IS/IT organizations. The fundamental process of coordinating and scheduling resources against tasks is instrumental to every successful IS team. However, as projects have become more complex in scope, and as business rules have emerged as the driving force to IS commitments, more structured or disciplined project and resource management software has grown in popularity. Nevertheless, the extent to which this software can make a lasting impact on an IS/IT organization’s productivity and effectiveness relies on their ability to embrace more sophisticated tools that provide better project control and predictability across the entire enterprise.
