Advancements in scanner design make it possible to increase the number of read/write channels, which in turn, increases the performance of the drive. In addition, advanced signal processing, enhanced error correction, and improved data compression allow the drive to make full use of the signal carried by the added channels by packing as much information as possible into the signal, ensuring that the signal is accurately detected, and eliminating any errors in the interpretation of the signal.
