The latest quarterly survey of the UK’s top IT Priorities can be summarised in the twin themes of productivity and efficiency. Overall, 47% of projects were motivated by the need either to increase user productivity or to improve the competitiveness of the organisation, and this emphasis on IT as a contributor of value, rather than purely as a cost-saver is borne out by the high ratings given in areas such as the development of Web applications, workforce mobility, business intelligence, and office productivity tools.
